Ornamental Steel Balcony Railing with Flower & Leaf Inlays

This old world balcony railing adds a touch of elegance that  perfectly complements the brick façade of this house.

The design of this railing is based on DJA’s Round Steel Panel with Rosette & Leaf Details (DJA102). You’ll notice that all of the other elements used in this design pull inspiration from the details within this one panel.

If you’re looking to make this or a similar design as a stair railing, our Stair Railing Steel Panel with Rosette and Leaf Details (DJA103) matches the DJA102 to perfectly integrate the stair railing into a balcony rail.

Above the DJA102 panel, the fabricator of this railing utilized three individual elements in a creative way to incorporate a number of elements from the panel into a unique design.

This section utilizes our hand-forged Hammered Small Leaf Scroll (P662/3SM) attached to the Hot Forged Double-Faced Steel Leaf (P606S) (which perfectly matches the leaf detail in the DJA102 panel) in a mirrored design. The mirrored sections are attached at one end and separated on the other by our Steel Rosette in 2 Sizes (P24C/10_11). This design uses the larger P24C/11 version which measures 1/8″ thick by 4-7/8″ in diameter.

The rosette element is also designed as a perfect match to the central rosette in the DJA102 and DJA103 panels.

Our Cast Iron Raphael Newel Post with Octagonal Base (9115-X) serves as the cornerstone of this design, offering a bold but seamless transition from the side to the front rail.

No railing would be complete without a top molding holding it all together. The fabricator of this railing chose our DJA Twist Solid Forged Molding to offer a finishing touch that is both elegant and bold.

Last but certainly not least, this design would certainly not have been complete without some finish work. To achieve the weathered-bronze look of the final railing, all of the items were hot-dip galvanized, given a bronze paint base with a gold patina, and then clear coated with a matte lacquer to knock the shine of the paint down and achieve the final weathered look.
