Modern, low-profile two piece split shoe for square balusters and newels (DJA645)

This modern, low-profile two piece split shoe for 1″ or 1-1/2″ square balusters, pickets and posts wraps around the base of a square bar and is a great way to finish off or retrofit a contemporary railing or fence project. Cover up drill holes, mismatched concrete or caulking, or base plates up to 3-1/4″, all without uninstalling or disassembling the project. All you need is a screwdriver!

Material Type and Finish

  • Cast aluminum
  • Set screws are stainless steel to limit corrosion for general exterior and interior usage
  • Ready to paint to match your railing color, or can be powder-coated

Base Shoe Installation

  1. Using a phillips screwdriver, remove the set screw on each side (two total).
  2. Position one half of the cover shoe around the post, and verify sizing. Refer to graphic in product gallery.
  3. Slide the other half of the shoe around the post. Align the set screw holes.
  4. Screw in each set screw fully. Do not overtighten.
